makey makey circuit connected to a banana

June 15th and 29th, 10:30AM – 2:30PM
Hosted at Adaptive Design Association, 313 W. 36th St, NY NY

This Summer DIYAbility is hosting workshops for teens with physical disabilities and their siblings. June is all about introducing computer programming and custom interfaces.

In this month’s workshops teens will:

  • Learn to program with MIT’s Scratch to make custom games, musical instruments and animations. Drag code blocks to program your ideas, then share them online with friends.
  • Next, make custom interfaces with the MakeyMakey. Forget about the keyboard and computer mice, maybe a banana would be a better interface or maybe Playdoh buttons.

Learning to program is a skill that can offer endless opportunities for increasing independence and quality of life…and there are a lot of jobs available for programmers today in practically every industry. It’s a good time to be a programmer : )
